Before I even get into it, this movie is a 10/10 to me. We have Leonardo DiCaprio (again I know, I love his sh*t) playing Cobb.
This is one of those movies where you get even check you IG timeline or youll miss a key piece of the puzzle. And the ending means nothing if you don’t know how you got there.
From a simple position, this movie is all about fighting reality versus your dreams something we all do every day anyway. Leo plays Cobb who is literally a brain infiltrator. Not like a hypnotist but someone who can go into your brain (like a vampire for all my vamp diary fans). He would go into people’s brains to steal their ideas.
SPOILER ALERT: a billionaire hired him to do the exact opposite… put ideas into rivals minds and to do it so well they believe it’s their own.
Because this has never been done before, Cobb had to hire a team (Ellen Page being one of the actors, she kills it)
The coolest idea in this movie is where Cobb explains that he needs an architect. People were confused and he explains:
“how we think and dream has a shifting architecture, and in order to go in and mess with the organic mind, he needs to rebuild the mind” <- something like that?
SPOLIER ALERT: the billionaire wants to change his rivals mind to the extent the rival gives up his company (classic).
I KID YOU NOT if I was high wasn’t paying attention I would have been totally lost. As Cobb and the architect go into the brain and mess w the architecture, buildings as you think of them were slanted, people were upside down… the whole movie was a trip BUT SUPER COOL.
It got so confusing between dream and reality, even Cobb had times of confusion.
It’s not just the writing and Leo you enjoy, but the scenes, the visual artistry, the music. This movie is jaw-dropping and completely unpredictable (despite my few spoiler alerts).
Side note: GUYS Christopher Nolan spent TEN YEARS writing the screen play for this movie… 10 YEARS!! I haven’t stuck to anything for 10 years except breathing.
The concentration to make this insensible movie make sense is admirable. I can promise you will not be disappointed if you watch this, check it out… SERIOUSLY!
