2012 (2009)

HOLY SH*T… this movie is nearly 3hrs long so it absolutely crucial that you know that before you sit down with your crap foods… cause you’ll need a lot of snacks. The movie starts out in India with a physicist of some kind.. he basically identifies that the world is about to end and an apocalypse is on the way.

I won’t lie, from here on out, I was confused any minute I’d scroll through my insta feed because there was like 2 stories taking place at once. The first story was about a family trying to survive the turmoil, the second story was following the government.

SPOILER ALERT: the two stories do collide in the end.

The main character Jackson (played by John Cusak) is UNBELIEVABLE. He plays this super hero dad and literally tears through falling buildings (in a borrowed limo) trying to get his kids, ex-wife and her new husband from their California home to a small plane.

[he loaned this small plane by paying collateral of a cheap Target watch… genius]

His ex-wife at first thought this was completely bogus, and he confirmed this information of the end of the world came from his buddy in the woods, who happens to be a conspiracy theorist… but kudos dude, he was totally right

The new husband character is Gordon (played by Tom McCarthy), who’s this classic Californian surgeon, happens to have had a few private lessons flying personal planes. By default, Gordon was the pilot and did a mighty job.

[If nothing else, watch this movie because the sci-fi is unbelievable. I couldn’t get over the graphics, it was so extra large and in charge. And with any government focused sci-fi, the technology concepts on these planes and ships were super cool.]

As the world is literally coming to an end (like the whole world is basically under water) it’s discovered that there were secret boarding passes sold and offered to people who A) could afford them and B) passed a genetic test to be the best candidates for procreation.

SPOILER ALERT: Jackson and his family were none of those things, so they inevitably snuck on this super top-secret ship… and f’d the whole thing up by jamming a door.

While the lucky citizens on the ship were preparing for the entire oceans impact, the door needed to be unjammed in order to shut and power the engines … to reverse from Mount Everest. (which you learn would have killed all of them and therefore all of HUMANITY)

SPOILER ALERT: Jackson’s younger son (like 10 years old) follows his dad secretly, under water, to unjam the door…. Guess who figured out how to unjam it JUST in time?

Honestly, this movie was amazing. It was totally over the top, but action packed, amazing story line and cliché moments. I highly recommend this movie, you learn how to be kind to strangers and how the government literally wants to f*ck us all how having a little bit of balls can save humanity? That’s what I gathered. Check it out, super cool flick.
